Nagham Choir

Nagham Choir is a social project established in April 2019 that aims to gather youth from two areas in Tripoli that have historical political conflicts. It is part of the Local Development Programme for Urban Areas in North Lebanon that is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in partnership with the Fayha Choir, Ruwwad Al Tanmeya Association and the Ministry of Social Affairs. UDP_NL is co-funded by the EU and Germany. The choir target is youth from Jabal Mohsen and Bab Al Tabbaneh between 14 and 26 years old. Both regions were exposed in the past years to various types of conflicts and problems: political, social, economic… The main objective of Nagham choir is social inclusion between members and coexistence between the young people of Jabal and Tabbaneh and acquisition of life skills that is essential helpful in their own personal life. The choir is a platform for them to express their feelings and ideas freely and be more sociable and this is what collective singing is all about. In addition to its social effect, members are introduced to oriental classical music and collective singing.
